The Flag Flies, The Fireworks Are Loaded
The bombs are ready and will be bursting in air, and our flag is still there. All is in readiness for the Saginaw Area Fireworks on this Independence Day 2019 as America celebrates its 243rd Birthday. A 30 minute show is scheduled for 10:15 this evening over Ojibway Island in Saginaw. The music synchronized to the aerial displays will air on both 100.5 and 790 Newsradio WSGW and is sponsored by Koegel Meats.
Nearly 200 volunteers helped raise the giant 50 by 80 foot flag this morning over the Court Street Bridge. The flag remains on display through 4:00p.m. when it will be lowered. Tens of thousands are expected to take their places in their favorite viewing locations for the fireworks. You are reminded to take along a radio so you can hear the music.
Saginaw Area Fireworks volunteers will be passing through the crowds tonight accepting donations to help pay for the $125,000 show. The fireworks are provided by Wolverine Fireworks in Bay County.
