Should you go to a concert or a music festival?
Now that things are “back to normal”, you’re probably thinking that you could use a good night out on the town. Maybe a concert or play, or perhaps you could use a trip to take your mind off of your worries. Why not combine both and consider attending a music festival? There’s nothing better than watching your favorite artists sing live in concert. With rising prices due to inflation, it’s important to be mindful of how much things cost and how you can get the most bang for your buck. Music festivals are the answer.

According to financebuzz.com, in 2023 the average price of a concert ticket is about $119.00. Music festival tickets usually average between $300-$500 for a weekend pass. At an average concert, you may be treated to an opening act or two, then followed by the headliner. Music festivals are growing in their appeal because it typically involves multiple headlining acts and countless opening acts.  Also, concerts last one day whereas many music festivals stretch over 2-3 days and are typically all day events. One disadvantage to music festivals are the added costs for transportation, lodging, food and other expenses. Concerts held in your local area don’t force you to worry about expenses like hotels, meals, etc.
Back in the day, there weren’t many popular festivals geared towards the culture,. That’s changed in recent years. Options include domestic and international festivals including St. Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival, Sol Blume, Afro Nation Miami, Rolling Loud and the Rock the Bells Cruise just to name a few. The Essence Festival held in New Orleans got thrust into the spotlight in the hit movie, “Girls Trip”. Did I forget to mention Usher’s residency at MGM in Las Vegas?
