Saginaw Man Sentenced for Controlled Substance Causing Death

A Saginaw man who supplied heroin to a man from Prudenville, causing his death, was sentenced Monday in Saginaw County Circuit Court. Thirty-six-year-old Adrian Williams pleaded guilty to one felony count of Delivery of A Controlled Substance Causing Death and as a habitual offender. Judge Manvel Trice sentenced Williams to 192 months to 30 years in prison.

The Michigan Attorney General’s office said phone records and witness testimony in the case showed Williams supplied the victim with heroin at a Saginaw area truck stop in December 2016. The victim was hospitalized but left against medical advice. He was found dead the next day. An autopsy report determined the cause of death was a drug overdose.

In announcing the sentence, Attorney General Dana Nessel said “The Department of Michigan Attorney General will use every resource at its disposal to fight back against the deadly opioid epidemic which has continued to ravage our communities across the state. One way we accomplish that is holding those who produce, manufacture or distribute illegal narcotics accountable for the injury they cause.”
