State House Republicans led by Manistee area Representative Jack O’Malley who chairs the Transportation Committee are laying out their strategy for fixing Michigan’s roads.
O’Malley says the GOP plan ensures all taxes paid at the pump go directly to fixing roads. O’Malley estimates that would raise over $800,000,000 per year once fully phased in over two years to help spur the pace of improvements. He also wants to cut red tape and provide flexibility allowing local governments to take the lead if possible on financing some projects.
O’Malley spoke at a Town Hall held Thursday in Sanford at the Midland County Road Commission Office.
