Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs sent millennial TV fans in a frenzy Monday, when he posted on his social media about the possibility of bringing back his popular MTV series Making The Band.

In case you are unfamiliar with the series, here’s a summary for you: The series originated on ABC in 2000, when Lou Pearlman (man who created late-90s pop groups Backstreet Boys and NSYNC) did a nationwide search for the next big boy band, resulting in the creation of pop group O-Town. Diddy took over in 2001, moved the series to MTV, and brought the show major attention (including a memorable parody on Chappelle’s Show). Diddy’s version of the show would result in the creation of rap collective Da Band, pop girl group Danity Kane, and male R&B group Day26.

Although the show ended in 2009, it still holds a special place in pop culture. So, you definitely have to understand the excitement surrounding a possible reboot of the series. Check out Diddy’s post below!
