Woman Charged In Embzzlement Case Against Vulnerable Adult
A Flint woman has been ordered to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in restitution to a victim of embezzlement and the state of Michigan.
According to the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, 68-year-old Constance Roberts stole money between 2018 and 2021 from a man she was in a relationship with, who is 20 years older than her, after he began to experience cognitive decline. Roberts pleaded no contest Wednesday in Genesee County to charges of embezzlement from a vulnerable adult and failure to file/ false return of taxes.
The Attorney General’s Office say Roberts purchased multiple vehicles with the stolen funds. She must now pay $500,000 restitution, make a $30,000 cash payment toward restitution at or before the date of sentencing on October 28, and agree to forfeit six motor vehicles to be auctioned to go toward the restitution. She must also pay the Michigan Department of Treasury more than $50,000 for the failure to file taxes.
