Woman Arrested for Stealing Ambulance Says She Was Trying to Go Home

A 35-year-old woman claiming she was trying to get home in a stolen ambulance was arrested last Friday.

Police say the woman took a Mobile Medical Response ambulance from a garage of McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City around 7:30 P.M. The keys were inside the vehicle, according to police. The woman headed south on I-75 until she was pulled over in Buena Vista Township. Police say the rear doors of the vehicle were still open. The woman told police she was trying to get to her home in Flushing.

She’s currently being held in the Bay County Jail, and is facing a charge of unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle.
