What we’re learning from the deaths of Prince, Chadwick Boseman and TakeOff’s death.
The deaths of celebrities like Prince, Chadwick Boseman and Takeoff shook the world, especially their millions of fans across the world. Other than the fact that all three worked in the entertainment industry, do you know that else they have in common? All three entertainers died without leaving a last will and testament. Not leaving a will puts the burden on the court system to determine how the estate is liquidated. During this often times lengthy process, a bulk of the estate is often eaten up by court and lawyers fees. That’s why everyone should have a will. Whether you’re a world famous entertainer or an everyday citizen, having a will is extremely important.
- Knowing that your possessions will be distributed as you wish.
- Appoint and outline powers of an Executor and/or Trustee.
- Appoint a guardian for minor children.
- Specify funeral wishes.
- Expedite the legal process.
- Reduce stress and heartache for loved ones.
Imagine the comfort and peace it will give you today, knowing that your last wishes are known and will be respected. Death can often bring out the ugly side of people, especially within families. Having a will helps to minimize or eliminate disagreements of who gets what. Also, if you have minor children, it has already been determined who will assist in caring for your family in your absence. In your loved ones time of grief, the last thing they need is to make important decisions while they may be under duress. Show your family that you love them, by leaving a will.
