Reality TV Star. Beauty & Media Maven. Future Attorney?!

In a new interview with Vogue, Kim Kardashian-West reveals that she is currently preparing to become a lawyer! Seriously!

Well, it’s no secret that the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has taken a serious interest in prison reform lately, with her playing a key role in the early release of several inmates. One notable release was the case of Alice Johnson, who was serving a life sentence as a first time offender, for a non-violent drug offense. After a meeting with President Trump, Kim successfully persuaded him to grant Johnson clemency. After over two decades served, Johnson was released from prison last year.

Of her surprising career path in the future, Kardashian-West had this to say:

“I had to think long and hard about this… The White House called me to advise to help change the system of clemency, and I’m sitting in the Roosevelt Room with, like, a judge who had sentenced criminals and a lot of really powerful people and I just sat there, like, Oh, sh*t. I need to know more. I would say what I had to say, about the human side and why this is so unfair. But I had attorneys with me who could back that up with all the facts of the case. It’s never one person who gets things done; it’s always a collective of people, and I’ve always known my role, but I just felt like I wanted to be able to fight for people who have paid their dues to society. I just felt like the system could be so different, and I wanted to fight to fix it, and if I knew more, I could do more.”

Kardashian-West is currently doing a four-year apprenticeship at a San Francisco law firm, with plans to take the California Bar Exam in 2022. (Fun fact: California is one of four states that allows a person to study law and take the bar exam without going to law school.)

Nice to see that she is using her influence for good!
