Buena Vista Township leaders would like to see a full service grocery store, a business incubator or a center to help veterans in the suburban community. Township Superintendent Torrie McAfee says the old Buena Vista High School on Holland Road and the Phoenix Science and Technology Center on Outer Drive are potential sites for such uses.

The two schools and three other Buena Vista School District buildings were given to the Saginaw School District in 2013 after the State Board of Education closed the district.

McAfee and Supervisor Christina Dillard asked Saginaw School District trustees to consider returning the two buildings to the township.

School Superintendent Doctor Ramont Roberts said the district is not using the facilities now. The school board will consider Wednesday night’s transfer request at a future meeting.
