Upgrades Being Made At Bay County Golf Course
Efforts are underway to upgrade the Bay County Golf Course to make it more attractive to more players.
County Executive Jim Barcia says a huge brush pile that’s been on site since the early 1970’s has finally been removed and that tiling will be added on three or four holes that tend to flood.
Barcia added a pond is being developed with Fisher Contracting paying the County over $100,000 for soil removal. That will start a capital fund to pay for replacing worn out equipment at the course. Most of the soil will be used to cap contamination at a nearby decommissioned Consumers Energy coal plant.
Barcia explained the pond will help meet long term course irrigation needs, especially in years when there’s little rain. He spoke after County recreation officials briefed the Board of Commissioners Tuesday.
