The UMBRAGROUP website says the company manufactures ball screws and other e-motion technologies for the aerospace, industrial and energy sectors. It has more than 1300 employees worldwide, with plants in Italy, Germany and Washington. The company website says its acquisition of Thomson Aerospace & Defense “provides UMBRAGROUP increased opportunities to support new civil programs, greatly expand into the defense sectors, and to provide aerospace ball screws, actuators and electromechanical systems made by UMBRAGROUP in the USA. The product line includes ball screws, linear bearings, electromechanical actuators and repair and overhaul services.”

Currently, about 170 employees work at the Saginaw facility, but more jobs are expected to be created as the new company gets established.
