A jury has been seated in the trial of 30-year-old Joshua Rosebush, who’s charged with shooting Saginaw Township Police Officer Jeff Koenig last January. Jury selection began last week in Saginaw County Circuit Judge Andre Borrello’s courtroom. Opening arguments
were scheduled for 9:00 a.m., Friday. The trial will continue into next week.
Rosebush is charged with 26 felonies in the case, including two counts of assault with intent to murder. Those charges carry a maximum penalty of life in prison with the possibility of parole. Officer Koenig was shot in the jaw and shoulder during a traffic stop on Tittabawassee Road in Kochville Township. Rosebush, a parole absconder who investigators say had been driving a stolen pickup truck, was arrested in Shiawassee County after fleeing the shooting scene. Police say he stole two more vehicles during that time. A Shiawassee County Detective shot Rosebush just before his arrest, after investigators say he pointed a gun.
Both Officer Koenig and the arresting detective will testify during the trial.
