How many times has life throwing you an unexpected bill that you weren’t prepared for? It’s inevitable; its apart of life. Since we can’t predict what the future may bring, all we can do is prepare ourselves to the best of our ability. One way is to begin preparing is to start saving money. You might be thinking, I don’t have anything left over once I pay my bills. Here are some tips to help you save money!

  1. Track your spending – you’d be shocked at how much money you were spending without realizing it.  Small purchases like lunch at work or even a cup of coffee adds up quicker than you may realize.
  2. Establish a budget – one of the best ways to save money, as long as you stick to it.
  3. Setting up specific savings goals – knowing your saving for something important often helps you stash money away with ease.
  4. Use an automated tool – have money instantly taken out of your check or out of your account, and put into a savings account you won’t touch. You can’t spend what you don’t have.
  5. Prepare for grocery shopping in advance – make a grocery list and stick to it, plus be on the look out for savings, deals and coupons.
  6. Bring your own lunch to work – it’s no secret eating out daily typically costs more than preparing your own meals.
  7. Stop paying for cable television – most subscription services (like apps) offer almost the same amount of content at a fraction of the price.
  8. Create an emergency fund – that way you don’t have to take a loan out when you need emergency cash, and forced to pay interest back. You can simply borrow from yourself interest free.
  9. Buy previously enjoyed (used) vs new – some items you want don’t necessarily have to be brand new, like automobiles or even fashion items like handbags and shoes.
  10. Unsubscribe from any tempting marketing emails – out of sight, out of mind.
