R and B Star Walker is back in the news after posting that she’s looking for an assistant. That’s not uncommon; she’s a very busy, successful, single mother with another child on the way. She needs the help and has the means to pay for it. However, social media isn’t letting her off the hook because in her post she says that she’s looking for to hire someone who is White or gay, and paying $2k monthly. Fans were outraged and let Summer have it, but being who she is, she didn’t back down. As a matter of fact, she doubled down on her statements.

She defended her preference in hiring by saying she always employees Black people, so she doesn’t understand the big deal in wanting someone who wasn’t Black. Fans say she took things to far when she said, “I want a gay man ’cause I don’t want nobody hitting on me and I wanted a white person, because honestly, you n-ggas, y’all know how n-ggas act. I’m honestly really tired, I’m really tired, but that’s a different f____ story.” Fans accused her of self hatred towards Blacks and a disgrace to her community.

To be honest, I’ve heard Blacks who weren’t celebrities admit they prefer to do business or hire someone who isn’t Black because they aren’t always professional. Do you think Summer is catching backlash because she is famous, or do her critics have a point with self-hatred? Is it fair to say that all members of a race don’t know how to act or conduct themselves, solely based on their ethnicity? Do Black people who make comments like that think they’re the “exception to the rule?” Read the full story on our Kiss 107.1 Facebook page and leave your comments there!
