TakeOff., one third of the hit group The Migo’s, will be laid to rest this Friday in Atlanta. It shocked the world when it was announced that he was tragically killed in the wee hours of the morning on November 1st. Hip-hop and the world lost another great artist too soon.

Artists like Alicia Keyes and Justin Bieber have confirmed they will perform at the service. In my opinion, there will be just as many star-stuck observers as there will be people who are mourning his death. Yet another reason for less than sincere people to attend, and possibly disrupt by taking photos or videos of the event.

Have celebrity funerals become a spectacle after the homegoings of greats like Michael Jackson, Kobe Bryant…. and who can forget Aretha Franklin’s epic homegoing, which might still be taking place (just kidding). I think there’s a way to do everything tactfully, but when you involve money into the equation, it’s easy to lose focus on the reason you’ve come together. That reason, to respectfully have a service where friends and family can come pay their respects.
