Saginaw United High School Opening Ceremoney
Saginaw United High School commenced classes in early September and officially celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 30th.
The ceremony featured a lineup of speakers, including district leadership, architecture leadership, students and parents. Each emphasized the transformative journey leading to what many described as a new beginning for education in Saginaw City. This state-of-the-art facility was described and symbolizes hope and opportunity for students and the community alike.
Among speakers was senior Julian Morris, who articulated the sense of unity among students in the classroom. “We’re not just learning together; we’re building a community,” he said, Saginaw United to him means a new beginning even when it was sad to see two historical high school go. But when something ends that just means something new is on the horizon. ”
The new five-story, 212,000-square-foot high school is a product of a $100 million school bond project approved by Saginaw voters in 2020. Principal, Eric Gordon expressed his gratitude to everyone involved, stating, “Thank you for making a city’s dream come true,” emphasizing that this achievement was the result of collective effort and dedication to the community’s youth.
