Saginaw Man Charged in Overdose Death

A 19-year-old Saginaw man from Saginaw is facing charges for supplying drugs to a Bay County man that led to a fatal overdose. Saginaw County Prosecutor John McColgan has charged Tomas Garcia
with delivery of a controlled substance causing death, which is a felony that carries a maximum
sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole. The prosecutor’s office alleges that Garcia sold a heroin/fentanyl combination in Saginaw County. Twenty-nine-year-old Kamron Mast of Frankenlust Township died of an overdose at his home in Frankenlust Township on December 19 of last year.

The Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team and Michigan State Police from the Tri-City Post conducted an investigation into Mast’s death, which led to the charges against Garcia. He faces several related drug and weapons charges as well. His mother, Cristina Garcia, also faces a weapons charge.

Tomas Garcia was arraigned last week and denied bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 5.
