Health experts in Saginaw County are hopeful about a counseling focused program called Centering Pregnancy reversing poor outcomes for pregnant women, especially African-Americans.

Groups of potential mothers with similar due dates learn about things like nutrition, substance abuse and stress management to deliver healthier babies. Further growth in Centering Pregnancy is predicted after it’s served over 100 women in the last two years.

The discussion occurred at a health forum held in Saginaw’s Andersen Enrichment Center Tuesday.
