A 3-vehicle crash in Frankenmuth sent a 56-year-old man to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Frankenmuth Police responded to S. Gera Road near the railroad crossing south of Bradley Rd. about 8:40 a.m. Wednesday.  Officers found one car with heavy front end damage, another on its roof with heavy rear end damage, and third vehicle with minor rear end damage.

Police say all occupants had exited the vehicles and were able to speak with the officers when they arrived. The driver of the overturned car  was taken by MMR to Covenant HealthCare. Minor injuries were reported for the other two drivers.

Police determined one of the vehicles failed to stop for already stopped vehicles on the road, and rear-ended the another, causing a chain reaction. The driver who failed to stop was cited for “failing to stop in assured clear distance” and released at the scene.

Police said speed and alcohol were not factors, and the roads were not wet at the time of the accident. The road was closed with a minor detour into Star of the West parking lot while the accident was cleared.

Michigan State Police, Mobile Medical Response, and Reinert and Bender Wrecker Service assisted at the scene.
