Pinconning Police Request to Become Volunteer Firefighters
The Pinconning-Fraser Fire Department is in need of volunteers.
A public meeting will be held at the Pinconning Township Hall at 1751 E. Cody Estey Rd. Wednesday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss allowing members of the Pinconning Police Department become volunteers with the fire department. Volunteer firefighters have declined in recent years, not just in Pinconning, but across Michigan and the country. Applications submitted by Officer Matthew Viviano and Sergeant Terry Spencer were approved by the city manager and are supported by the fire chief. They only need approval from the fire board.
The police department says having the officers as volunteer firefighters can reduce response times and availability of first responders in the event of an emergency. Patrol cars can be outfitted with life saving equipment.
The public is invited to attend the meeting.
