No Threat from Suspicious Package in Huron County

The Huron County Sheriff’s Department and the state police bomb squad investigated a suspicious package last Friday.

Sheriff Kelly Hanson says the package was delivered to a doctor’s office behind the McLaren Thumb Region Hospital in Colfax Township. Hanson says hosptial staff found the package, along with spent ammunition and gun parts. The office was closed at the time, though police evacuated the surrounding area out of caution.

The bomb squad determined the package contained lithium batteries meant for an electric scooter.
