No more excuses! I’m dedicated to getting healthy!

You know how you make those New Year’s resolutions to lose weight and exercise? I decided to not make a resolution and instead, I made the decision to commit to living a better lifestyle across the board. The key word is commit. That means, I’m not giving up, no matter how hard it gets or if I stumble and break my word… I’m now fully committed to being the best version of myself. It’s not an easy journey, but it’s doable. I’m gonna take you with me on my journey, good, bad or indifferent. I’m committed to the journey and all that it brings.
Some coworkers and I decided to start out own version of the Biggest Loser TV show. The contest runs through mid-March, but I’m using my participation to kick start my new way of living. I’ve done some research on what steps I need to take, as well as jogging my memory about food choices and exercises that worked out for me favorably in the past. I’m not counting calories or weighing my food. I’m making better choices like reducing my fried food and red meat intake and increasing my water consumption. I also had to break up my love affair with peanut butter cups. Maybe break up is a harsh word; maybe redefining our relationship is more accurate. It’s all about moderation.
Most health enthusiasts say that exercising will help kick start your weight loss journey, so I’m all in. Realistically, I haven’t been exercising on a regular basis since before the pandemic started, so I know I need to ease into things. My first week, which begins on Thursday, January 18th, I’m committing to at least 30 minutes of exercise daily. Since I’ve been sedentary for a while, I’m easing into things by walking daily with the goal of incorporating weight lifting into my regimen shortly. At 52 years young, the last thing I need to do is sustain an injury which will probably make me want to throw the towel in… and that isn’t an option.
So make sure you check in with me on my blog and follow me on my wellness journey. My Manager, your Afternoon Girlfriend Yvonne Daniels is also helping me to make better food choices. If you’ve been wanting to make a change in your lifestyle, I’m not a baby, but it’s taking a village to help me get to my goal. You’re invited to join me on this wellness journey. Let’s get it!
