Midland Resumes Brush Collection, Borrow-A-Container Program May 4
After a detailed review of Executive Order 2020-59 (“Stay Home, Stay Safe”), the city of Midland has announced crews will resume collecting brush during residents’ heavy item collection week and delivering dumpsters through the City’s Borrow-A-Container program on Monday, May 4.
Appliance collection during residents’ heavy item collection is still suspended until the Governor’s Stay Home order is lifted.
Brush collection will resume on Monday, May 4 in Area A. As a general reminder, brush collection includes logs, cut branches, tree trimmings, and other brush in
lengths less than eight (8) feet. To prepare brush for collection, please remember the following rules:
- Brush piles should be no longer than eight (8) feet in length
- Piles should be set one (1) foot apart
- Piles should not contain any non-brush items or refuse
- Piles should not be placed near poles, trees, mailboxes, wires, or other obstacles as this impedes proper collection.
Brush items can be placed at the curb no earlier than the Saturday preceding a resident’s scheduled collection week. Items should be at the curb by 7:30 a.m. on the Monday of residents’ scheduled week in order to receive collection. Due to the anticipated high volume of brush awaiting collection in each area, residents are advised that the service may run as late as Friday of each week before all residences receive collection.
The Borrow-A-Container program will resume on Monday, May 4 beginning with previously-booked reservations received prior to March 23, 2020. Reservations will be fulfilled in the order they were received. Residents may request a container by calling 989-837-6900 and leaving a message.
Bin delivery service for City refuse and yard waste bins, as well as the mailing of yard waste bin stickers, will resume on Monday, May 4. Residents can visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/publicservices to complete the appropriate form(s) and mail their form(s) and check payment to City Hall, 333 W. Ellsworth Street, Midland, MI 48640 or seal them into an envelope and place them into the secure drop boxes located outside of City Hall or the Municipal Service Center, 4800 N. Saginaw Rd.
All City offices and buildings and non-essential City services are closed through May 15, 2020 as outlined by Executive Order 2020-59 (“Stay Home, Stay Safe”) issued by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Friday, April 24.
