The Rev. Marvin Sapp

Gospel singer Marvin Sapp named a church bishop

n a statement provided to eurweb.com, he said that he and his late wife, MaLinda, started Lighthouse in 2003 “with a clear focus on building a strong church that would be a wellspring of spiritual teaching and growth in Grand Rapids – a church firmly rooted in solid bible teaching and firmly focused on serving the Grand Rapids community.”

He said in the statement that he was content with his life focused on Lighthouse and Grand Rapids but said he received “multiple prophecies about transitioning from Grand Rapids. … This year, an opportunity was presented that I know represents the fulfillment of the prophecies I received.”

The first Sunday in September will be his last service at Lighthouse. He will stay on as chairman of the Board of Directors and “provide spiritual oversight” to the church, he said in the statement.
