During “Tall Ship Celebration: Bay City” which runs from Thursday through Sunday, the Saginaw River Marine Historical Society of Bay City will be offering two days of public tours of the Saginaw River Rear Range Lighthouse. This will be only the fifth time ever the lighthouse has been open to the public, with the first time during “Tall Ship Celebration: Bay City” in 2006.
The hours the tour buses will run and tours at Saginaw River Rear Range Lighthouse will be given are from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Friday, and Saturday.
All transportation to and from the lighthouse will be handled by 2 Mitchell Motorcoaches. The buses are air conditioned and there will be a tour guide.
The bus pickup will be at Veterans Memorial Park near the intersection of John F. Kennedy Dr. and the entrance to Liberty Harbor Marina, on Bay City’s west side. The cost is $7.00 for adults, $3.00 for students, and free for 1–5 years. The cost is for the roundtrip bus ride and there is no charge for tours of the lighthouse. The cost for the tour bus includes a $2 discount to the Antique Toy and Firehouse Museum, and a $2 discount to the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum where the USS Edson is docked.
Vehicles can also be parked at the Antique Toy and Firehouse Museum, or the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum and then the tour bus can be boarded and disembarked from there.
