Future Bay City Football Stars Will Learn The Basics During A Special Camp
Football will be on the minds of the Bay area’s young athletes. Dennis Wirgowski Football Camp organizer, Tom Baird, says over 100 boys and girls, will learn the basics of the game, playing in Bay City Central’s Engel Stadium, Sunday afternoon.
Baird said the 4th through 8th grades will learn offensive, defensive and special teams techniques plus agility tips during the fourth annual camp this Sunday. Another top Central football player, Trenton Robinson, who went on to the National Football League will talk to the student athletes.
Wirgowski, who graduated from Central in 1966, was an All-Stater and All American player in high school before college at Purdue and an NFL career.
He died in 20-14. His widow, Bethany, will talk to the campers about suicide and help that’s available to those facing life’s difficulties.
