Several thousand people of all ages met with public safety officers and an up close look at their equipment Tuesday, August 6th, in Bay City and Saginaw Township.

Saginaw Township Police Crime Prevention Officer Adam Nothelfer says the National Night Out is a relaxed atmosphere to meet those serving our communities. In addition to meeting the public safety personnel, important home and personal safety information was distributed.

Both events in Bay City and Saginaw Township offered face painting, bike helmets and bounce houses.

Bay City’s National Night Out also offered tours of the Santa Maria, a replica of Christopher Columbus’ largest ship. It made a return voyage to Bay City after going to Green Bay, Wisconsin, for the Tall Ship Celebration.

Fire truck aerial ladders and electric utility trucks were on display in Bay City’s Uptown.
Of course, calorie-free doughnut holes were available in Bay City.
Saginaw County Mounted Division deputies were also greeting those attending the Saginaw Township National Night Out.
The Michigan State Police “Trooper 3” helicopter was on display.
An added attraction to Bay City’s National Night Out was the replica of Christopher Columbus’ largest ship, the Nao Santa Maria.
