Former Longtime Bay County Sheriff Passes Away

Former Bay County sheriff John Miller has passed away. Miller served five terms as sheriff, retiring in 2016. He first joined the department as a deputy in 1974, and was elected sheriff in 1986.
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office announced Miller’s death on their Facebook page, calling him “a great friend and mentor to many.” Miller reportedly died Wednesday at McLaren Bay Region hospital. He was 68 years old. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
