Saginaw Promise—An Investment in Saginaw

  • Feb15
    Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

A College Scholarship for Students who live and Graduate in Saginaw!  The Saginaw Promise is making an investment in the future of Saginaw and in the lives of its students with a scholarship for postsecondary education.  The Saginaw Promise is working to affect positive change in Saginaw by promoting postsecondary education and providing a “residence based” scholarship for students who live in and graduate from a high school in the Saginaw Promise Zone (comprised of Saginaw, Zilwaukee, Kochville and that area of Buena Vista designated to the Saginaw Public School District). The organization’s goal is for every graduating student to earn a program certificate or degree.

Since 2012, the Saginaw Promise has awarded $821,753 in scholarships to 491 students.  “This level of support is due to the generosity of our community partners and donors who are making an investment to impact lives and a community through education”, stated Joyce Seals, Saginaw Promise Board Chairperson. Program and operational funding are raised annually from corporate, individual and foundation donors and special events.

How to apply:  Students must complete the online Saginaw Community Foundation scholarship application at saginawfoundation.org/site/scholarships/.  Students are also required to complete FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at https://fafsa.ed.gov/.  The Saginaw Promise scholarship can be used at technical/trade schools, community colleges and universities throughout Michigan for tuition and mandatory fees only and must be applied for annually and is renewable up to two years.

Application deadline is February 15, 2019.
