ELECTION 2020: Sen. Cory Booker Joins Presidential Race

Looks like the 2020 Presidential Race is getting even more crowded on the Democratic side. This morning, Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey officially announced his campaign. According to CNN, he decided to announce it on the first day of Black History Month as a nod to his heritage, which he suggests will be at the center of his pitch to the voters.

Booker, who was the mayor of Newark prior to entering the senate, joins a long list of Democratic hopefuls looking to snatch the White House from the current Celebrity-In-Chief, Donald Trump. Other hopefuls include Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii), Julian Castro (former secretary of housing and urban development), and fellow Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA). What sets Booker apart is his age (49, the youngest in the race so far), as well as the fact that he’s unmarried and vegan. In addition, his willingness to work with like-minded Republicans on issues such as criminal justice while also challenging Pres. Trump on the integrity of his nominees (including, most notably, Justice Brett Kavanaugh) makes him a candidate to watch.
