The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a crash involving a car and a bicycle.

Police say an 18-year-old Saginaw man was riding a bike north on a East Rd. near Banner Rd. in Spaulding Township Monday, April 22 around 4:30 p.m. That’s when a 65-year-old woman from Chesaning Township driving a Chevy Malibu, also heading north, attempted to pass the cyclist, according to police. Witnesses told police the cyclist turned into the path of the car suddenly, causing the crash.

The man was taken to Ascension Saint Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw with life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
