Costco Approved by Midland City Planning Commission

The City of Midland took another step towards attracting retail-giant Costco.

In August, Midland received a site plan review application from Costco Wholesale Corporation to add a new 157,000 square foot retail warehouse, tire center, and gas station on the corner of Bay City Road and Rockwell drive.

Residents all over the great lakes bay region have given a positive result when asked about the addition to the area, as the next closest Costco is in East Lansing- over an hour away.

According to their website, has costco 15 Michigan locations.

This Tuesday (October 22nd), the Midland City Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval of the site plan, which now moves to City Council for final approval on Monday (October 28th).

The addition could bring nearly 200 more full time jobs to the area.
