BREAKING: Jussie Smollett Attacked In Chicago; Possible Hate Crime

Singer and Empire star Jussie Smollett is recovering after being the victim of a possible hate crime in Chicago this morning.

TMZ reports that the star was walking out of a local Subway at around 2am when someone yelled “Aren’t you that f***ot Empire n***er?” At that moment, two white men in ski masks brutally beat him, poured an unknown chemical substance on him, and hung a noose around his neck, screaming, “This is MAGA country!” (MAGA, of course, is an acronym for “Make America Great Again.” the slogan for Pres. Donald Trump that’s been used as a rallying cry for white supremacists as of late.)

Smollett was taken to Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital to be treated for a fractured rib. Thankfully, he has since been released. There is a possibility that this incident may have been premeditated, as he has received a threatening letter (obtained by just a week earlier. At press time, Chicago PD is investigating the incident as a battery, with police treating the case as a possible hate crime.
