A 24-year-old man is behind bars after allegedly attempting to meet a child for sexual purposes.

The state police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Scott Myers of Bay County after an investigation began when detectives posing as a minor began a conversation with Myers, who they say arranged to meet for sexual purposes. Myers was arrested at the meeting location. He was charged Monday, August 12 with accosting a minor for immoral purposes and using a computer to commit a crime.

Police encourage parents to talk to their children about the safe use of the internet. Resources are available online at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children website, where anyone with information about child sexual exploitation can also report on their Cyber Tip Line.
