Sigh…. when are we going to stop comparing women in the music business? When?

Social media is up in arms over recent reports comparing pop singer Ariana Grande’s headlining performance at this year’s Coachella festival to that of megastar Beyoncé from last year. Here’s the tea: According to Business Insider, Queen Bey was given $4 million for her history-making performance, which included flawless set design and background performers, as well as appearances from Jay-Z, Destiny’s Child, and Solange. Meanwhile, Grande’s performance included great cameos as well (Nicki Minaj, Diddy, Ma$e, and N*Sync – minus Justin Timberlake), but was marred with technical issues. Even with that, she was given an $8 million payday, according to Variety – double of what Beyoncé was given. That was what originally reported.

NOW, THE TRUTH….

The Blast debunked those rumors this morning, saying that the $4 Million that Bey received was for EACH performance. Therefore, she and Ariana were paid equally.

Prior to the correction, social media was up in arms with the BeyHive arguing that Bey’s seniority in the music business should be reason enough for a bigger payday.  Check it out below!

But, of course, there were also some positive tweets, celebrating both ladies for their efforts and calling for an end to this whole #Beychella vs. #Arichella madness.
