Tiffany Haddish Is Sorry She Mispronounced Names During The Oscars’ Announcement But The Internet Isn’t Mad

On Tuesday, Tiffany Haddish and Andy Serkis, read the highly-anticipated roster of nominees for the 90th Academy Awards.

Tiffany Haddish was hilarious, as expected, but not just for telling jokes. The Girls Tripstar struggled to pronounce some of the nominees’ names.

As reported by Time, from talking about seeing Dunkirk (“I gotta see this Dunkirk. It seems like a lot of people like it”) to charmingly mispronouncing Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya’s name (“He know his name,”) Haddish was non-stop fun during the typically snoozy annual presentation. At one point Haddish jokes, “All these titles make a woman from an urban area very uncomfortable. I’m just saying.”

On Twitter, she promptly apologized to screenwriter, Michael H. Weber, for mispronouncing his name. “Tiffany Haddish can mispronounce my name any way she wants! WOOOOOOO,” Weber said. “I am so sorry I can say your name,” Haddish replied. “I just felt like I was a substitute teacher in a Key and Peele skit. I was having an unreal experience. So grateful you’re are cool Congratulations!”

But Weber wasn’t the only person who wasn’t mad. Twitter was full of support for Haddish.
